ObservePoint Application: CCPA
Overview
On Jan 1, 2020, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) went into effect. CCPA is a state-wide data privacy law that regulates how businesses all over the world are allowed to handle the personal information (PI) of California residents.
While ObservePoint is not a comprehensive CCPA compliance solution, you can use it to help you validate compliance.
Solutions
So here are some of the things you can do with ObservePoint to move toward compliance
- Consent Manager Validation: Set up an audit simulating a user modifying their cookie preferences.
- 1st Party Cookie Validation: Set up an audit that shows all the cookies being set from your domain.
- Checking the Privacy Policy Link: Set up an audit that looks for the existence of the privacy policy link on each page.
- Checking the Privacy Policy Cookie: Set up an audit and a rule to check to make sure the cookie that allows data collection is not set on each page. Use this to verify the case when a user declines or does not agree to data collection.
