Overview
If your website uses Akamai, you need to configure Akamai to allow ObservePoint IP addresses so that ObservePoint traffic does not get blocked. Below you can read how to accomplish this to ensure uninterrupted use of ObservePoint to monitor your websites.
How do I know if Akamai is blocking ObservePoint?
There are two ways to detect Akamai blocking ObservePoint:
You see 429 and 403 errors in your page status codes or page network requests.
You see this screenshot in ObservePoint page report:
Configuration
To allowlist ObservePoint traffic when using Akamai, you need to create an Inbound Rule. For that, you need to log in Cloud Manager in Akamai and access Firewalls from the navigation menu.
There, click on the firewall that you would like to add new rules to and add an inbound rule. Click on the Add an Inbound Rule link and a menu will appear as seen in the pictures below. Then, proceed to add as many ObservePoint IP addresses as you would like to allow.
Once the rule is created, save the changes from the Rules menu.
Future ObservePoint Audit & Journey runs should no longer be blocked. If you continue to experience issues, you may want to share feedback with your IT teams or contact our support team.
