Overview

This feature for Audits and Journeys automates the process of accepting or rejecting cookies/tracking for popular Consent Management Platforms like OneTrust, TrustArc, Tealium, CookieBot, UserCentrics, and Cookie Control. Similar to clicking "Accept All" or "Reject All" on a CMP banner, ObservePoint's browsers will handle these actions automatically to set the user's preferences. More Consent Management Platforms are expected to be added in the future.

If your website uses a Consent Management Platform (CMP), configuring Pre-Audit Actions in ObservePoint can simplify simulating user interactions with cookie banners. Ensure the CMP actions are appropriately set up in the tool to trigger the desired actions interactively. By doing so, you can reliably test consent states such as 'Accept All' and 'Reject All' during audits.

For websites using custom cookie banners not managed by a CMP, Pre-Audit Actions need to be configured manually. Begin with a 'Navigate to' action to direct the audit to your banner's page, followed by a 'Click' action targeting the element that accepts cookies (e.g., 'ACCEPT' button). You can use a CSS selector such as #accept-all or specify a unique identifier to accurately simulate a user's opt-in behavior.

Why is testing Accept All/Reject All important?

Streamlining the evaluation of key user states on Consent Manager Platforms, with minimal setup, plays a crucial role in advancing your privacy governance strategy. This streamlines the process of setting up privacy compliance tests across various domains and GEOs, eliminating the need for complex JavaScript manipulations or customizations.

Where in ObservePoint can this be used?

These Consent Manager State options can be set in Pre-Audit Actions and Web Journeys to test the various important use states of “Accept All” or “Reject All”. This feature needs to be configured for each domain that is being audited or visited in a Journey, this feature needs to be set as your first action. This action will navigate to the starting URL you provided, clear cookies, and then execute the action you created. Whether your website uses a CMP or a custom cookie banner, following these configuration steps ensures thorough and accurate validation of cookie consent states during audits.

Sequence of Actions: Always initiate with a 'Navigate to' step before adding any further actions like 'Click' to ensure proper targeting. Missing this foundational step could lead to improper execution of audit actions.
